Hey man, Really, REALLY liked Black Rainbow. It's just totally my kind of thing. The music was awesomely dark-atmospheric 80's synth, the visuals were rich and fierce, even harsh, and the tone of the whole film was just beautifully foreboding and ominous, even to a degree that was sometimes silly. But I'm cool with that. I don't think it was even meant to be fully serious, really. It was so entrenched in and committed to a vibe that is long gone... I consider it as simply a beautiful ode to a cult subgenre that I'm a huge fan of. Your thoughts?
And yeah, I'm definitely thinking of rating/reviewing films. I don't see as many movies as I used to, but the films I do see are usually ones I seek out, and they tend to stick with me and leave me thinking about them long after I see them, which is more than can be said for a lot of the music that passes through my ears lately.
I was into it for about 40 minutes but it just started to drone on and on and on and on. I liked alot about it the music is awesome and visually its wonderful but its way to long for what it is.
I think my problem is just the lack of story or plot or any characters to give a shit about. Basically its nearly two hours of people sat in well lit rooms with droning synths and a droning pace that feels like it went on for about 8 hours. I think if 30 minutes or so were chopped i would of liked it a hell of alot more. The final 40 minutes felt like an eternity. A shame. The director has talent. I will look forward to his next film
I have never watch Game of Thrones. I never get round to tv shows that often. Problem is for me is when you have 5 series to get through it seems like a really daunting task. I have not watch True Detective season 2. Its had very mixed reviews.
As I said, there is a lot to like about it but it is self indulgently long and very tedious. The ending is pretty bad. Shame for about 40 minutes i was loving it then it just started to get tiresome and wear out its welcome.
I will watch Game of Thrones i think when its finished and when all the hype has died down so I can watch it without people telling me how awesome it is.
