Game collection
I enjoy many types of music and I'm always looking to expand my horizons. Most of my collection is hard rock, metal, grunge, alternative rock and the like, but I also enjoy jazz, classical, and electronica.
My rating system - I rate albums mostly by how much enjoyment I get out of them. Yes, the musicianship does factor in, but the more an album takes me away to another place the higher the rating it is going to receive from me.
5.0 - an album that moves me. Has a minute amount of filler (or none at all). I have fond memories of this album, or I find it to be flat out awesome.
4.5 - an excellent album, however there might be a flaw or something that prevents it from me giving it 5 stars.
4.0 - A very good album, might have some weak moments but overall very enjoyable
3.5 - A pretty good album. Might not "move" me the way a 4 star or above album does, but the musicianship might be solid
3.0 - Average. Some good tracks, some filler. Some portions might bore me a bit. I tend to give this rating to albums that I expected more out of, or I might have to be in a certain mood to appreciate it
2.5. - A bit below average. The singles might be great, but the rest of the tracks might be filler. This is where the boring quotient starts to become predominant.
2.0 - Below average. Mostly "boring" albums get this rating.
1.5. - Where the music starts going from boring to bad. This is where the music starts getting painful to listen to.
1.0 - Flat out bad. Probably a bad artist, so the bad music shouldn't be a surprise. Might take a lot of effort not to turn off.
0.5 - No redeemable qualities.
As for my movie ratings, they are based solely on how much enjoyment I get out of a movie (I am by no means a movie critic). I may have to tweak them later on as factors such as nostalgia and who I saw the movie with played somewhat heavily in my ratings, but if my ratings say anything about me it's that I'm rather easily amused...
