There are two types of albums I rate on RYM:
1) Those listed as my favourite artists, which will tend to get high ratings, and
2) Stuff I've got recently and am currently listening to - I could love it or I could hate it. But I listen to even the WORST shit at least half a dozen times before judging.
I review everything I rate. Ever wonder if anyone reads these things? I do.
A brief history of my music taste:
(1976--1984) Whatever my parents had on the radio --> (1985-1990) Hip-hop --> (1991-1996) Metal --> (1997-present) 50% underground hip-hop, 50% Metal/Rock.

I strongly disagree with your review, obviously. I'll probably re-write mine and give it 5 stars, but I like yours, anyway. You do raise valid points that would make the album unappealing to some. It seems that we approach Hip-Hop from very different perspectives, though.
Reviews for me are not just a way to discover new music but to be exposed to different views. One way to connect to others is being able to handle different opinions and understand them. That's why there's still value in reading reviews of albums you already have an opinion on.
I'm really into the sharing-of-thoughts thingie.
I heard Art of Dying a few times and it kind of flew by. Bed of Flowers has a cool idea, and Black Rose is brlliant. It's one of the best break-up songs I heard. I need to give the EP a closer listen.
Ultraviolet is more abstract and less personal. You might think I'll be disappointed, but as I said you can't expect him to make another personal album. I haven't heard all of it but what I did hear I loved. I think it might be more of your style. I felt a lot less dream-pop in the tracks I've heard.
Their self-titled borrows a lot from electronica and rap. There's a desire there to be genreless. It's pretty weird to call it generic when no band attempts something like 'Sugar and Spice'.
