I'm a forty-something gay wolf/fox/thing who likes long walks on the beach as long as I have headphones on, or perhaps with a boom box in tow.
I grew up a radio fiend, and I grew up buying 45s. So most of my music is listened to in the way I was trained to - one song at a time. I have nothing against albums, and I do listen to them periodically. But you'll see far more reviews for singles than albums here, as that's how I usually consume my music.
I let my whims write the review for me. Sometimes I'll just give a one-sentence knee-jerk response. Sometimes I'll write several paragraphs about all the things a song (good, bad, and even indifferent) will do to me. And sometimes, I'll write a five-word smartass review of somebody's magnum opus. Because my reviews are even of less import than even the most terrible of records.
The reviews reflect my mood (and whim) when they're written, and those moods are subject to change without notice. I've changed two-star reviews to four-star reviews and vice versa. Because I'm a capricious son-of-a-bitch who doesn't think two-year-ago me is necessarily a better judge of a song than current me.
...and yes, I'm currently working on "Ready To Sing My Song: The Unauthorized Autobiography Of Theodore Chipmunk". I hope to have it completed by the end of 2016.

But it's cool to hear the idiosyncrasies of the people who likes to obsess on the music charts and shit... I'm one of those people, I just Im all about the freaking Billboard charts, ever since I can remember I'm a fun and I've acquired a lot of not useful knowledge about artists #1's and their top 10's, top 40s and whatnot.
What is the coolest thing though, is to hear that you started collecting with this being the single that started it all... I don't know if this is the actual song that made want to start the gigantic task of the #1 single collecting, or maybe was it another song from the era, and when u got around to start doing it, this was #1 on the charts. Either way, that's such a cool story to share man.
That's why I like RYM so much, cause people can nerd over this little things like the Billboard charts, that for other people it might be weird or a waste of time (I myself remember, getting strange looks for always talking about the current top 10 and shit), but I, for a change, can appreciate your efforts to own something that's cool... Like having every #1 song on a physical single and owning it, I really find that amusing in the best possible way man...
Anyway, that's the only review I've read from you, but I'll try to catch up some time... In the mean time... You have my regards man! keep it up.
Like Bon Jovi's Living In Sin being their magnus Opusa lol... Or like for example, the this I remember the most about some songs like Debbie Gibson's Electric Youth, is that it peaked at #11... And I don't think much about that song or anything, but if I ever do (because I think I bought the 12 inch single for that song, but I still have to get to it... I have it on queue and I rate the singles according to my purchase date's order) the only thing that pops into my mind is how it missed the Top 10, going to #11 lol
That stuff that I sometimes forget, you have managed to point out in your reviews, so I have nothing but applauses for you, and you don't need my encouragement to keep reviewing singles... but do me a favor, and keep doing it as long as you can, becuase believe it or not, some of the reviews on the site, keep me entertained and those are the things that make me come back to RYM religiously every day...
any way man... I'll let you to it, I don;t want to come off as a stalker lol... but yeah, I've been reading your reviews and I've been laughing my ass off for the past half hour... my girlfriend is even asking me what the fuck is wrong with me, what the fuck is the thing Im watching on my laptop... Im like.. "It's the reviews baby, it's the reviews" lol she doesn't know what Im talking about lol
anyway, later man. Thumbs up
