My favorite genres are 60s/70s/80s mainstream, Filmi music, Art Rock, Art Pop, Funk, Disco, Hip-Hop, Indie Pop and Rock, Alternative, Avant-garde, Soul, Classical, Baroque, Synthpop, Synthrock, Electronic, Dream Pop, Shoegaze ,New Wave , Post-Punk, Jangle Pop(along with the Dunedin scene) and music from other countries.

I also am an addict of Vinyl issues of records(wherever possible) and often try every possible way to get the Vinyl no matter how long it takes.

Notes:
1. These ratings are just my opinion. Personal bias sometimes creeps in but I try to keep it out as much as possible. I do not intend to upset anyone or their musical preferences. People should realize that every genre has its zeniths and nadirs. The same goes for decades as well.

2. I find some genres instantly appealing and some not. But I do give each genre a chance and I believe that I can recognize good music when it exists, irrespective of genre [though it may take some time!!].

5. For singles, if the B-side is good thats a plus point else it doesnt matter that much.

5 Stars (Exceptional/A+) - My most favorite records. They have to meet the following criteria: They excite me no matter how often I listen to them, I can listen to them often without getting tired of them, and they are among the best of their particular genre. These make a real personal connection to me. [Nearly perfect; Great structure along with anyone of these - A memorable chorus/verse/bridge or perfect rapping or excellent instrumentation throughout the record.]

4.5 Stars (Excellent/A) - There is only a minute difference between a record that is rated 4.5 and 5 in my ratings - typically it doesn't excite me quite as much, but is an exemplar of its genre. Also the aforementioned personal connection can be missing at times. However, I still can typically listen to them often without getting tired of them.[Nothing wrong really; minor flaws in either songwriting or production]

4 Stars (Good/A-) - These are records I like. Typically I can play them on my will but not too often.[Noticeable flaws in songwriting or production, decent lyrics with great instrumentation or vice-versa.]

3.5 Stars (Above Average/B+) - These are records that I only want to play them when I'm in the mood for them, or I want to only play in a specific order. Nothing really wrong with these, just that they remind of better existing records which can dampen the experience a bit. [Your average likable record; Flaws in few parts however the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.]

3 Stars (Decent/B-) - There is a lot of music that I think is decent, but I don't want to play all the time. [Perfect for listening during a cruise; Nothing extremely good or bad but its presence can be forgettable.]

2.5 Stars (Passable/C) - Records that I might want to listen to again, sometime in the future, but at most times the willingness to play them is missing. They're just not my style. . [Poor songwriting/Overproduction of records that could have been rated 3 stars without these flaws.]

2 Stars (Underwhelming/D+) - These are passable, but I really have to be in the mood specifically for these. Usually Top 40 records belong to this and hence can pass for background music. [Maybe one redeemable feature in a sea of flaws.]

1.5 Stars (Poor/D) - These are records that I don't like but still are listenable. [The same as above, replace 'sea' by 'ocean'.]

1 Star (Very Poor/D-) - These are records that not only do I not like, they just are not good music. [ Unimaginative songwriting; barely makes the cut to be considered as listenable.]

0.5 Stars (Atrocious/E) - Yawnnnnn........[ Some precious seconds of my life were wasted on these. Waste yours at your own peril.]
