Which is odd because Bayonetta 1 and 2 are rated higher than I would have expected.

It has a strange reputation. A lot of the gamecube crowd played it as kids and are most likely rating it off of that memory and didn't play it to the degree that people play other Kamiya games i.e multiple playthroughs on harder difficulties. Meanwhile the action game enthusiast crowd has barely played this so we don't have them to increase the score either.
Genuinely shocked Capcom still hasn't rereleased this on anything, considering they're generally pretty good with digitally rereleasing their back catalogue (Onimusha 1, Devil May Cry games, Killer 7, etc.). I'd love to play this again but don't really feel like going back to my parents' place and digging out the GameCube ha.
