Yeah but if we're going to accept that argument, what about the black box NES/Famicom rereleases on the same system? You're probably right anyway, but Nintendo isn't always that logical with their choices.

That aside I'm surprised the Zelda games never got an "Allstars" treatment of the earlier games at least. Though they may have seen this as competition to the Dragon Quest collections they made with Enix.

ALttP was given a rerelease on GBA a year earlier, so it didn't make sense to give it away free on GC and detract from the sales.

Just happened again after the 13th fairy in Stone Tower Temple. I sat there in a daze for what must have been 10 minutes listening to the droning buzz from my CRT as Link stood frozen in time, his light arrow hanging in midair halfway between his readied bow and a floating Death Armos. We are all like that arrow, I suppose, raging bitterly against the current of time toward some Death Armos forever just out of reach. We watch that brilliant light arrow, confident that though it may not reach its destination today, tomorrow it will fly a little faster, and then one fine morning—
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
