Super Smash Bros. Brawl is bloated with more features than ever before, yet for all its excesses it's an extremely shallow experience. I'm not just referring to the long and boring cutscenes, the useless online multiplayer, or the lack of character balance. Yes, characters do trip randomly while dashing, but they also dash very slowly, jump with little forward momentum (even after dashing), and land very slowly – i.e. characters move very slowly and awkwardly, and when even the lightest hit now sends opponents flying away and backwards, that's a big problem. It's a total betrayal of the Smash Bros. concept, of setting up for the "smash." And the way Brawl directly, deliberately undermines the player's control, it's also a betrayal of the video game concept.

Linking When you mention an album, artist, film, game, label, etc - it's recommended to link to the item the first time you mention it. Doing so will make it easier to search for your post and give it more visibility. To link an item, use the search box above, or find the shortcut that appears on the page that you want to link. You can customize the link name of shortcuts by using the format [Artist12345,Custom Name].

I think it gets a bit too much flack for having to follow up Melee. The single player experience in this one is up there, Subspace Emissary is I think still the best single player mode and a bit better than World of Light. Also, the roster is just really fun, this was the Smash Bros game where they really started to push the boundaries and creative possibilities of the roster.
It's not as fast and precise as Melee but I still think it feels great to play, better than Smash Wii U. As a casual party game with items on, I kinda prefer this to Melee. Melee is just the tightest-feeling and mechanically "right" Smash game tbh.

Hopefully one day they'll be on here.
