This is one of the worst games Nintendo ever made in one of their main series on one of their flagship consoles. It is made by them, so it isn't a complete trainwreck like other companies horrible blunders, but it just completely sucked any of the fun out that previous Kirby games had and was an absolutely insulting entry being released next to Kirby Super Star[星のカービィ スーパーデラックス] and Kirby's Ghost Trap which are both masterpieces in my op. Kirby should have "poofed" this one out with the stars.
The levels themselves are actually quite fun imo. Finding the right path and zooming through is really satisfying. But the whole design philosophy of 'getting a puzzle wrong means replaying the level from the start' is just so frustrating. Way too many one-way exits that didn't need to be one-way. Truly the best Kirby game visually and musically though, I've never been so enamored by the setting of Dream Land (Kirby's Adventure comes closest), and there's a lovably eerie undertone throughout, what's with those beady-eyed Kirby clones that are always out of reach? One of the best final fights in the series as well, visually, musically, and in terms of fun (if a little on the easy side)
There's a SP version of this game on SNES Switch Online that let's you go to the final boss immediately. After being bored by the first world, i didn't feel like doing the boring levels so I just used that to skip to the best part of the Dream Land games.
