Going Under is a great and unique take on a roguelite which doesn't feel depressing to die in every single time.
In a game like Hades or Enter the Gungeon, you die and to me it feels like losing a save file, making that progress then just not wanting to play anymore. I have felt this so many times and it's very refresing to play a roguelite that's level based instead.
Going Under's structure is largely what shines in the title, short (about 15 minutes) levels ending with a boss. The gameplay in these is incredibly fun, challenging, with a lot of variety but not an overwhelming loot pool like The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.

Pretty fun rougelike dungeon crawler. Sure, that style of game is everywhere at this point, but this one is still a fun one of those. I enjoy the parody of the Corporate Artstyle this game goes with, with all these characters who are clearly miserable at these jobs in the artstyle companies use to show that "We're so down to earth and all our employees are happy" Also the LuuLuuBuu connection with this game instantly puts it down a point.

It's incredibly charming: from the very believable cast of characters, to the art style, to the interface itself, everything has that sleek, modern corporate feel. It's incredibly well-done parody and I just wish the gameplay was as good as everything else.
The abilities are interesting! The weapon variety is surprisingly large! The dungeon environments are just as fun as the hub area. It's mechanically interesting (although not very deep) and the wit and jokes from the hub area extend below too. It just really, really sucks the wind out my sails when trying to hit anything with most weapons becomes one of the Labors of Hercules. I suspect this is primarily due to the stiff way your character moves around. This control scheme is jank enough to turn the game as a whole into a chore, which is a shame given how perfectly executed everything else is. I want to know more about swomp! I want to see what happens to the Flavor guy whose passion for what he does gets ignored or exploited, depending on the day! I just don't have it in me to fight the game itself - although I guess it's kind of fitting to have the game show off a shiny, polished exterior while it wears down my will to go on.

What did Luulu even do for this game? They are credited as "community developer", which I assume meant managing their socials or something? I can't imagine it affecting your experience with this game at all.
The big part of this game for me is not as much the game itself as the promotional campaign of it, or much rather the very pronounced social media presence of the game on Twitter. Lulu was a big acct that flaunted the game, promoted the studio and worked on their SMM tirelessly, so when everything came crashing down, it was felt.
I don’t blame the studio, but I still remember the social media side vividly and it does feel like a gut punch.
