Gene was just a drifter before he tried to save Olivia from a group of bandits. In doing so, he had his right arm severed, but woke up with a new one - one with the legendary God Hand.
There is not much that's as good as God Hand. It's the quintessential stylish action game, featuring an incredible amount of depth in enemy design and exhaustive movelist. Every single level is an intricate weaving of evading moves and doing counterhits. Every enemy combination is an amazing fight to behold and to work around, the pace going fast and strong as you stand on the precipice of absolute destruction to your enemy or being hit by a string down to the ground. And tying it all together is a nonsense story keeping the comedy strong as you punch Elvis into a tombstone and then dragon fist him up into the air.
To this day, I still haven't found an action game that kicks ass as much as this game does.
It's hard to put into words what has really been said often, I recommend watching this video at least
He puts it in much better words than I will. Please try God Hand, you won't regret it.

Playing God Hand is literally the most fucking fun thing to do on the planet, a smorgasbord of stupidity and wanton violence that will cause your brain to flop out of your skull and your dick to grow its own, separate dick. It's also damn hard and holds absurd mechanical depth. God Hand didn't give a shit if mainstream critics thought it was too weird, ugly, inappropriate, stupid, or inaccessible. God Hand just wants to tickle your id and ensure you have the best time if you let it.

God Hand is both an entertainingly weird brawler and the best chihuahua racing game out there.
Also, Mad Midget Five forever and ever.

6 more months in the oven and a slightly higher budget and this would have been a paradigm shift in and of itself.

This is one of the best action games Capcom's ever released, which is saying something. The tank-ish controls may feel unnatural for an action game, but they make perfect sense once you understand how it works. The camera stays close to the action so you can dodge and counter attacks like in a fighting game, and your own movelist is endlessly customizable. Enemies offer a stiff challenge that will have you scrambling for items and weapons, to say nothing of certain boss fights. But every step of the way you feel completely in control of your character in a way that makes even DMC feel a little brainless. Where God Hand is lacking is in... everything else, even if I find myself charmed by its trashy qualities. Its stages are repetitive and lacking in detail, its story and voice acting are idiotic (but entertaining), and it's generally not a pretty-looking game, though it does offer replay value. God Hand will kick your ass and not even be serious about it, but if you're partial to that sort of experience, you need to play this however you can.

I hadn't heard of God Hand until very recently when I saw the high ratings it received here and other sites that touted it as one of the greatest 3D action games ever made. I'm admittedly not experienced in action games myself but was blown away by the brilliance of this game, which features such impressive mechanical depth that it feels fresh to this day. Unlike most action games you're able to build your own moveset from scratch by assigning the moves in your inventory to the attack buttons (Square, Triangle, X), which allows for an enormous variety of play styles to become available to the player, considering there are 114 total moves in the game. It also features dynamic difficulty, which is tracked by a difficulty-gauge that increases as you land successful hits while avoiding enemy attacks. Each time the difficulty level increases the enemy's AI significantly improves, which makes a hard game all the more challenging, but you'll want to do this to receive more gold for beating enemies.
The enemy designs in this game are incredible, as they all have unique and varied movesets that make each encounter feel like an important event. The bosses stand out especially, and there are many in this game that could go down as some of the best I've ever played. The hand-to-hand combat in this game reached truly sublime levels for me at points, during which I felt like Bruce Lee which was awesome. I didn't know what to expect when I played this but walk away with great reverence for this masterpiece of a game, and certainly believe the claims that this ranks among the best 3D action games, generally along with DMC3, Bayonetta, and NG: Black. I've yet to play any of those series, but hope that they can match the riveting fun of God Hand.

Way overblown, yes. I never died/had an attack miss because of the tank controls; however, I do understand if people coming from Bayonetta/DMC find it a little awkward to get accustomed to this game's controls at the beginning.
GoAT brawler, and my favorite game of all-time. The frantic action and outlandish humor never let up, making it an unprecdented experience, and, so far, one of a kind. Throw in endless replay-ability, and I have everything I need from an action video game.
Shinji Mikami's brain should be studied for giving birth to this AND Resident Evil.; two GoATs on the exact opposite ends of the gaming spectrum.
