I was a sucker for fighting games as a kid and Mortal Kombat had gotten all of us hooked on bloodier combat-- "fatalities" and the like-- than the relatively kid-friendly, bloodless combat of Street Figther 2. Fortunately most of us came to our senses and realized before bridges were burned that the Street Fighter series was, in fact, the pinnacle of 2D hand-to-hand fighting video games and after flirting with stuff like this and Kosumi Ninja we went back in time for the fighting game GOAT Street Fighter 3. This was a pretty good game, though, despite the annoying/lame mechanic used to trigger special moves (they're all either combination of button presses or charging the d-pad in one direction and then moving to the other along with a button press) opposed to the more artful, technical techniques required to perform specials in Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat and Tekken and the like.
