Destruction Derby Raw

I was almost ready to dismiss this game entirely, seeing as it was made by a different studio and not reflections, but I'm glad I didn't, as I found this one to be the best one. on the PS1..For starters, the driving module has been altered significantly; cars don't feel as heavy as they did before, yet they handle superbly, and I felt fully in control throughout, no matter the terrain or course. The newly added nitro mechanic is also well implemented and fun to use. On the flip side, the damage shown on vehicles is less impressive, although it's still quite decent.The handling in this game is sort of in vain to Bugbear's Flatout games, which came later.
The prerequisites for winning a race stay the same: you score by causing havoc on the track while simultaneously trying to place the highest, although things here are far more balanced. The sheer agresivity of the AI drivers has been toned down, the maneuvers are now easier to pull off, and stacking bonuses can be applied for some high scores.
Structurally, the game has also seen some changes. Instead of entering divisions, you unlock further courses simply by winning races. The courses are great too; there are lots of high-speed sections, wide corners, and intersecting points that lead to some spectacular crashes.Where this game completely wins over its predecessors is its variety in courses, different game modes, and unlockable vehicles. Raw feels more like a complete package, and I recommend you try it before the other two games.
