I can't find the exact article anymore, of course, but others have echoed this quote. He's being very blunt here. In other articles and the one I saw he also said, again bluntly, that's it's entirely in Sony's hands and that's why he isn't allowed to comment much on it.
Difference here is BB presents an entirely different aesthetic to the other Souls games which are medieval fantasy, so I'm inclined to agree with op. Mechanically it's nowhere near as ambitious as Elden Ring or Dark Souls even.
Outside of trick weapons and its aesthetic i don't think there's much that bloodborne has over from's other games that warrant it a 4 point fucking 53 on this site. It has some of the lamest and most forgettable bosses in their catalog (outside of their visual designs), none of which really go above being a 7/10 fight. Old hunters, however, is near perfect and almost makes the base game look kinda mid in comparison
