Rectifies numerous base-game gripes by means of omission and reframing, which is different than saying "Bloodborne would be better if it had less ______ in it." The are creative liberties taken with such deliberation and confidence, I can't help but want to see it respected beyond its premise. Similar to Anodyne 2: Return to Dust, there's a "secret warp zone" or debug mode sentiment to the direction that is difficult to articulate yet fascinating to play.
Point is, not at all a disposable product. This is a big win for a lot of fan-artists, which, I think we can all agree, they rarely deserve.

Bloodborne PSX is a fan made game that remakes bloodborne's first area Central Yarnham. When i first heard of the project i was pretty disappointed in how much of a fration of the original game it would focus on, but as i was playing it i got lost multiple times and it showed me how deceptively big Central Yarnham is.
The game presents a lot of visual effects to emulate PSX games. Its also a lot more limited in terms of gameplay mechanics than the original, for instance you can only change weapon forms in menu, and you must equip keys to open doors. A lot of these come off as annoyances (like the long loading screens, which can thankfully be disabled), but some of them actually reenforce the survival horror aspect of the game.
Controls definitly take some time getting used to, as a proper PSX game you need to play with analogue keys, and use L2 and R2 to shift the camera. Its cumbersome to say the least, but you get used to it, particularly because the enemies feel a bit slower and are much more manageable than their "real" counterpart.
The game takes a bit of liberties with level design, with a bit of differences in level design, as well as a whole new area at the end of the game. . But it all feels very appropriate to the original theme and atmosphere of the game.
Obviously its a game that should only be played to those that have already played Bloodborne multiple times, as the original game is the one that deserves to be discovered fresh. But as a reminder of why that game is great, plus some PSX nostalgia, this is a really enjoyable playthrough.
