Title
The Master System at its technical and creative acme
By 1991 Sega really pushed the technical boundaries of their 8 bit platform to amazing and unreached levels. Sonic the Hedgehog dynamited the expectations with rich, colourful graphics and unprecedented speed of action. Astérix followed close and was demonstrating how magnificent games the console had still to offer, because at the time not everyone was able to afford the Mega Drive and its expensive games. Well as high schooler I sure wasn't!
But back to our hero. I was amazed by this game. It was beautiful, funny, full of surprises and traps and tons of ideas made this platformer a wonderful yet dangerous adventure! I guess the difficulty was quite ok because it's one of the rare games I finished (well one of the rare I spent days on!), I just remember it was a bit easier than the first Sonic. The music was also amazing and very immersive, varied and with adapted moods.
Everything in this game was perfect, probably because it was developped only for this console and wasn't just a Mega Drive port, and is one of the masterpieces of the Master System. A shame it has been only released in Europe and Brazil. I guess in Japan and America the Genesis/Mega Drive already pushed out the 8 bit system for long at that time.
Now I don't know where I put my Master System since, I wonder if I sold it right after high school to buy myself a drum set... Damn I miss it!
