i'm slowly rating contemporary music (1950 - present) from the most recent years (2015) and slowly making my way to as far as back as I have listened to. I'll skip around from time-to-time.

rating system -

1 - the worst of all-time
3 - I do not like it
5 - indifferent / mediocre music (most music)
5.5 - mediocre music with an outstanding idea or two
6 - flawed but good
6.5 - flawed but good with a couple of exceptional ideas
7 - good through-and-through
7.5 - good through-and-through with an innovating idea or two
8 - a master piece of a genre, idea, etc
8.5 - a master piece of a genre, idea, etc with high benchmarks that proceed expectations
9 - Honest and among one the master pieces of all music not limited to just genres and ideas. innovating. honest. beautiful.
9.5 - minimal flaws; only a handful exist
10 - the greatest of all-time

I have tagged every rated album 1, 3, 5-10, with intervals between each number besides (2 & 4)

if this site used a 10 star rating system, that would have worked better but I have condensed a 7-and-7.5, for example, a 3.5 star rating. As you get to unique numbers, like a 10, they get their own star rating. 10 and 1 being the only examples (0.5 for 1 and 5 for 10)
