i've listened to each SCG album (including CFR, cloaven cassettes, compilations, etc) countless times. I've lost track. I listen to them everyday. CFR is pretty challenging at times, but that's why I like it. It covers a lot of ground, from the three radio works, the catchy ones like High Asia, Libyan Dream, Sumatran, the jazz and free improv stuff, gamelan, and Gocher-led stortelling adventures. The improv stuff is the hardest though- but the more you come back the better they get, especially if you're high out of your mind.
The problem is that I get stuck; the sheer volume and mysterious intensity of all their music is daunting. I think my favorite CFR is Sumatran Electric Chair. I've been listening intensely to Sir Richard's flamenco-infused guitar these days.
Oh wow, thank you! It isn't, actually - but I keep meaning to put up it and a few other albums. I'm glad you loved it; That was a collection of outtakes and various dark episodes.
