The World needs more Funk Metal.
I've searched for a whole bunch of odd music, and odd metal is my favorite. I'm interested in just about anything intense, bizarre, unique, and extreme. Anything is fair game for me. A good bit of groove and heaviness is all I need to hook into a song and have a good time. Unusual music is needed because it tests our limits and allows this artform(music) to grow. Even though I may not like all of it (hell, I fucking hate some of it), AT LEAST it gives us new options. Boundaries need to be stretched and if they weren't, we'd all just be listening to nothing but dad-rock on a loop forever.
I don't care if it's "mainstream" or "hipster", if you just use those words to dismiss music, without offering any insight, just tossing buzzwords around, You deserve to be mocked and called closed minded. You deserve it. Just relax, enjoy/despise what you do and if asked, tell the people why. Stand by your music and don't let others boss you around. After all, we're all individuals.
Also, there's no shame in finding humor in shitty music or listening to bad stuff for just a laugh.
MY SCALE
3.5-5 stars: Stuff I Like
2.5-3 stars: Stuff That's Just There
.5-2 stars: Stuff That I wish wasn't there
WHAT I'VE NOTICED ABOUT RYM RATING AVERAGES:
the average rating that an album gets on this site seems to be an indicator of it's quality to music fans. As in, this is what the general RYM public think of these albums.
Above 4 stars: Either obvious classics or comically overrated hype trains. You be the judge.
3.5-4 stars: Most of the good stuff
3-3.5 stars: average or decent quality music
2-3 stars: Mediocre/Controversial/Guilty Pleasures
Under 2 stars: Offensive/Painful/Cringey/Embarassing
This Generation is fine, pop music has always(mostly) been stale. I like millennial metal, hip-hop, electronica, all that shit. In fact, it's the "MUSIC WAS SO MUCH BETTER IN MY DAY, WAAH" or "WRONG GENERATION" crowd that I really hate. Do yourself a favor and be proactive, find new music that you can enjoy, don't chastise today's music all around the top 40. Most millennials don't give a shit about the current top 40 or trends since we have the internet to help shape our tastes. (where do you think the 2010s resurgence in Prog Rock came from?)
Self-Proclaimed "Realists" tend to be full of shit.

Sorry to hear that, man. But great to hear that some of my stupidity/ insanity came across as funny! I also am not very fond of Three Days Grace, but I wouldn't say I hate them. There are many other groups that I dislike but I wouldn't say I absolutely hate them either. And thanks for your participation! You are one of the few users who have actually been considerate enough to do that. Respect goes out to you.
