Thanks for adding me. It really is interesting to see what kind of music you dig. I mean, i am kind of all over the place, and not that critical, which is ok for me. I definitly share your opinion about Gillian Welch, and XTC's Apple Venus is a treasure and the Dire Straits Communique is great, just as their debut, and i am not surprised to see that you are into Free and other Jazz as well. How come you saw me here?
By the way, i have to see what Tim Berne does. I only someday heard that name.

I've been collecting soul records since the 70's, so I guess that gives me a good headstart :)
For the more arcane stuff, I've found that the blogosphere is a very useful tool, even if a lot of the interesting blogs are gradually disappearing. I recommend you have a peek at the "Mining The Audio Motherlode" posts on WFMU's "Beware Of The Blog" site, or check out some brilliant online labours of love like "Office Naps", "Garage Hangover" and "Radiodiffusion Internasionaal" (that's the correct spelling).
