Recommend me stuff and I'll listen to it as long as you're not a deaf hipster. I rate things as I see them, nothing more or less, except I'm right.

I just cataloged and organized my entire music collection, and I plan to listen to all of it eventually, so I'll be more active than average again for a while.

If I have something on my Wishlist with a rating, it means I have only listened to it once or forgot how much I liked it to be sure of my rating. The next time I listen to these albums they will no longer be on my Wishlist.

The rest of the stuff on my Wishlist is mainly music that I have that I have not got around to listening to. My goal is to keep it under 1000 (it is 994 as of 1/11/2017).

It's so odd to me that you have over 900 albums that you haven't even listened to. I literally keep it down to 3 albums max that I have on my computer that I haven't listened to (plus of course any songs that I like that I already had before I became album focused off albums that I probably won't ever listen to (one hit wonders and such)).

I'm not saying it's odd to have a large wishlist. I've got a long ass to do list, I just don't catalog it on RYM because the clutter of unrated albums would bother me, it's the part about having the physical album on your computer that I can't relate to for the same reason. That much unlistened to clutter would kill me. Though I guess your idea of not being able to get certain albums later on makes sense.

And I actually haven't been listening to high charting RYM albums on purpose, I've just been taking a list of the top albums as rated by thejew, Floyo and MichaelCorleone. I'm almost done with that list because I find it very hard to not feel a bit of pressure to like something when it's held so dearly by people whose opinions you care about or respect (same would go for albums you've recommended). But then I lied because starting with the Velvet Underground album I've got listed I'm trying to clean out the top 100 albums at the least. I did that with the metal albums and the result is that there are basically no highly rated metal albums left that I have much interest in listening to.

To each is own. Everyone has different ways of listening to music or deciding what to listen to or how they even like to discover music. I've never been good at picking up on what other people will like, so I don't really recommend things, though rating something high is the same thing to me.

I see you give 5 stars to Black Flux from Virus. It's one of the most original albums I've heard, I don't know anything that sounds like that. The the guitar work is definitely great, but still I've listened to it very rarely, because the vocals are so ''serious'' and it bores me... It's too bad, 'cause again, I don't know any other album that sounds like that.

"The time for metal is now and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. As Frank Zappa said "jazz isn't dead, it just smells funny". Such is the same with metal as it continues to leave its roots, bound to create a few temper tantrums among Slayer true fans, but it's for the better." :)
