Well, who knows. To me it seems unlikely that people with such creative drive would (or even, physically could) suddenly just stop creating. I imagine that the brilliance will continue in one form or another...
There are many popular games we still haven't played. But I've heard about Forbidden Island.
I was contemplating adding some more games.
Have you heard about Ghost Stories? It's a nice co-op game where you try to exorcise powerful demons and ghosts that try to besiege a Japanese village. Requires good teamwork and coordination.
Battlelore 2nd edition is one. I bought recently . A pretty fun fantasy wargame, with 2 unique armies, although board setup can take a while.
Descent you may have heard of-it's a popular dungeon crawl that came out a year ago in a new streamlined edition and already has like a dozen or so expansions. It's pretty cool if you like competitive games.
On boardgamegeek a very popular game is Mage Knight. Everyone keeps recommending it to me although it seems pretty heavy on the rules and requires a lot of patience and long hours to complete, from what I can tell People who are into it basically describe it as Heroes of Might&Magic; the board game.
There are still so many interesting titles I want to check out: Mice&Mystics Once Upon a Time Claustrophobia, Robinson Crusoe:Adventure on Cursed Island King of Tokyo Dead of Winter.
The list goes and on: there's always something new that catches your attention, but not enough time.
So far, we've been taken by the new expansion to Elder Sign-a very fun risk management game, that used to play like an advanced version of Yathzee with monsters, but with the Gates of Arkham expansion grew into something more interesting and challenging.
