I disagree, the ending of the arc is just fine with me. Pain wasn't truly a committed sociopath. Whether or not Naruto is a teenager doesn't affect the quality of the drama, and Pain sacrificed his life in that final technique to restore Konoha. Redemption Equals Death played straight. I get where your criticism is coming from, but I don't find it sound. Kishimoto didn't just press the reset button there: Pain literally gave his own life and sacrificed all of his efforts over the last 10 years to bring everyone back. It was some inconsequential asspull

However, AFTER the Pain Arc is when Naruto gor mediocre for... well pretty much till the end, where Naruto & Sasuke had their final battle (which was awesome balls in the anime). Outside of Naruto meetimg with Kushina, which was beautiful in sentiment, and Naruto taming and befriending with the Bijuu, the Five Kage Summit to the Kaguya battle was pretty.... mm... forgetable.
