Mala Kunia, your entry point of choice for Tangerine Dream, was a wise movement. I find it their most coherent and melodic disc of their last output. Indeed, it was considered as the first release of a new phase, "the quantum years", when founder Edgar Froese passed away in january this year. If you are considering exploring their back catalogue, jump through time to their 1974-1984 releases, you may find plenty of musical riches in those discs, enjoy!

In the weird and wacky world of quantum mechanics, electrons (for instance) are represented by a wavefunction that allows you the probabilities of them being detected in particular places when you look for them. However, the electrons are not physically there until you try to detect them; this 'collapses' the wavefunction and forces them to be in one particular place (i.e. where you detect them). The upshot to this is that until you go looking for them, the electrons are 'everywhere', in that they have no defined location (since you haven't detected them anywhere) and so do not 'exist', per se, until you look for them, thereby collapsing their wavefuncton.

If that all seems strange, I can't blame you. Too many years studying physics has meant that this doesn't seem so weird to me anymore... and I'm not sure this is a good thing!
