All due salutations to you! I'm just commenting here because I recognized your username - I looked up my second most compatible member's compatibility list and there you were at the very top. I remember you being all over the first forum I joined way back when - it was called DDD. I was just wondering if you recognized me - see I have a terrible memory these days and since I remembered your existence I thought maybe we might have communicated a bit. Whatever the case may be, cheers and keep up the good music taste ;)
Yep, my username was kharacter. I guess we probably didn't communicate directly very much then. It's true that I didn't post that much, but DDD taught me a lot. It was a big step forward for me in expanding my music tastes and my knowledge of music. It clearly showed that there was a world beyond Metallica and Queen (not that they are bad). I also remember a guy named Aunt-Jemima and another named Raul who had the Ken album cover as a user pic. I'm sure I'd recognize more names if I saw them. There was a time in my life when I took posted recommendations from people like you on DDD very seriously, and the musical discoveries I made during my time there were monumental. I remember the members were generally very Pitchfork influenced (although I didn’t learn that ‘till later). It is weird how much my tastes have changed since then – I still own an Opeth box set from those days...I should really give them a spin again some time soon.
It's great that those two are still alive and kicking. And it is true that Pitchfork is as good as it gets as far as emphasis on one source goes. I also appreciate how they gave Napalm Death's Scum a good rating of 8.4 when the album goes pretty much ignored most everywhere else. That aside, it's doing a fine job moving music forward, regardless of my differing tastes; it keeps up with the times a lot better than someone like me, no doubt ;)
Cleaning up my itunes, and I randomly stumbled across your Patent Pending review and, for some reason, just started laughing uncontrollably. They were deleted, btw.
