Deckbuilder

Card games in which the construction of the deck of cards happens in the process of playing the game and is the main gameplay element. Victory conditions can vary from gathering enough points or defeating the opponent through battles. The tabletop version took shape with Dominion in 2008 setting most of the standards, and many other games followed after. Early examples in video games like Ascension and Star Realms were adaptations of their tabletop version, however the genre really took off when Dream Quest (and more famously Slay the Spire) combined roguelike mechanics with it creating the roguelike deckbuilder genre.
