Bug
Genre
Bugs are typically defined as small, terrestrial arthropods with at least six legs and most often refer to hexapods (insects), arachnids (spiders, scorpions, ticks, and mites), and myriapods (centipedes and millipedes) as well as some crustaceans including isopods. In a broader scope, bugs may also include all small terrestrial invertebrates including earthworms and gastropods such snails and slugs.
Games that feature bugs as a major theme often take place in the bug or animal kingdom such as Webbed, Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling, or Bee Simulator in which the player takes control of a bug during gameplay. Worms and Earthworm Jim are popular franchises that feature earthworms as playable characters. Other times, they feature bugs as antagonists or invaders of games in which the player defeats them, such as Earth Defense Force [地球防衛軍] in which case there is often overlap with the alien theme. Centipede and Lady Bug are early examples of arcade games featuring bugs, whereas Hollow Knight is an example of a popular more recent game with this theme, as well as Bugsnax.
This is not intended to be used for games where computer bugs (glitches) are a prominent theme.
