Void Bastards is a very flawed game, but I enjoyed it somewhat since I like grabbing loot and upgrading gear. That is essentially what the game is about. You break on ships, grab some food/fuel so you can go on other ships and then grab parts to upgrade your gear. There's also key parts that are required to make the story advance, which will bring you into other depths with bigger ships and tougher enemies. The shooting mechanics are rudimentary, this is really not a great shooter in the classic sense and it's not really about stealth either. You just go in kill a few enemies, grab some shit and get the hell out of there before your oxygen or health runs out. You repeat this process for the whole game. If you die you get a new character with a new trait, but get to keep all your gear/progress except for your ammo, food and fuel. The game is pretty repetitive and never features a climax, it's doing the same thing over and over and eventually you reach the ending. There are some good concepts here, but in the end it does feel like an indie game that doesn't reach its full potential due to limitations. Play it in the game pass or get it for cheap in a bundle down the line, but it's really not worth the full price.

Loved the art and setting. Enemy design is cool. Gameplay was fine for the first 1-3 hours, but then it got repetitive. There's some weapon variety, and you're encouraged to think instead of going into ships guns-blazing. But honestly the game encourages you to just grab whatever you can scavenge on each ship, avoid enemies, and repeat ad-infinitum. It's just not engaging enough for me.
The ""plot"" advances by saying "Hey, we know you just spent this run going area-to-area looking for these specific parts, but now you need to do the same shit for some other parts!". Even as a tongue-in-cheek joke, it got stale the 2nd (3rd?) time the game pulled that on me.

This looks insane. Immersive sim by former Bioshock / System Shock devs with an insane premise and a really amazing comic book cel-shaded artstyle. Could be a cult classic.
Its aight, really fun early on but becomes less fun as you become more powerful and they throw more monsters at you. Becomes a bad shooter instead of a pretty decent little stealth thing
I genuinely think this game is incredibly charming, the style is great, visuals and the universe. I love how intimidating it feels in the first hour or so, but as soon as they start throwing more and more monsters at you, Stealth becomes not as feasible, and it just feels like a bad FPS
