Title
I've always been a sucker for vehicular combat games. I hadn't played Vigilante 8 before, but it holds up beautifully. The game pits two factions against each other, the Vigilantes and Coyotes, each made up of a set of characters who have their own unique vehicles and special weapons. The meat of the game is the Quest mode, in which each character is satisfyingly fleshed out with their own story in a series of brief campaigns.

The game's maps are huge, complete with destructible scenery and hidden areas. Thanks to solid controls, handling and physics, each vehicle has a distinct feel, making gameplay dynamic; some hits will send you or opponents flying and spinning through the air. The trade-off for a smooth frame rate is some texture and scenery pop-in, yet long-distance targeting and attacks remain possible. Lots of fun.
