Alternate history
Genre
A thematic world which contains a different historic timeline from the real world. Usually in the case of one or two singular major and real life events happening differently, causing the in-game world to have developed differently from the real world as a result.
It is generally set in the present day, though can also be set in the past or the future, providing the event(s) happened before the time the game is set and the event(s) is/are a real life historical events (e.g. a game may be set in the 1930s but in a world where the First World War had never broken out).
