Mostly impressed by the people who are able to find this relaxing. If the game weren't so insistent on outlining everything in little red lines I would probably be endorsing it as a little therapeutic adventure, but as time went on I found myself just flying through the levels, taking all the shit and putting it on the floor so I could just see those red lines as quickly as possible and figure out why the MC is so damn insistent that putting the microwave 8 feet up on top of a cabinet is better than leaving it on the countertop.
I really enjoyed one or two of these, mostly the ones with the most room for creativity, but unfortunately the game is a lot more interested in providing a dump truck full of little trinkets for you to use to cobble together a story. I don't think this is inherently bad! But I had a lot more fun arranging the GF's collection of horror movie merch than I did finding spots for the horribly bland MC's collection of Eiffel Tower souvenirs. There are a handful of very obvious plot points that nobody is going to miss, but it seems that most of what people enjoy about this game is the story that they've projected onto it. There's a chapter where the main character moves in with The Worst Video Game Boyfriend of the Year who the devs tried very hard not to make "too cartoonishly terrible" and his biggest crimes are... picking an overly grayscale apartment and having hobbies that are a little too "adult Redditor"? Zero sympathy for the main character trying to hang her movie poster-sized diploma in every apartment for the next 20 years after she graduates. Under the bed is absolutely the perfect spot. These two deserve each other.
Yeah, I've pretty thoroughly soured on this game at this point, having played through the whole thing and mostly feeling like the game doesn't have a real point that it's making. Life events happen? You can tell a lot about a person through their belongings? Clutter bad? Really makes you think! I could tell you almost nothing about this person, but I know enough to find them deeply annoying. The power of games!

I liked it in the beginning but I disliked that the new houses would have the same objects. Also hate that it forced you to put things in an "acceptable" place. Maybe I like the way the soccer ball looks in that little space under the kitchen sink.

[PL] Narracyjnie pozostawia do życzenia - hołduje post-japiszońskiemu obrazowi spełnienia w posiadaniu wielkiego domu. Bohaterce z chłopem było źle, bo rozpychał się napompowanymi mięśniami, ale już z babą gituwa i (materialne) porozumienie dusz. Czysto mechanicznie zaś - satysfakcjonująca układanka.

Really sweet little puzzle game. What it lacks in length and difficulty it more than makes up for with an enormous amount of charm.
I mean, it was gonna be a 3.5 until the credits started rolling. Honestly that song makes it a must-play.

Unpacking is surely a game for very particular people, that ones that just need to have everything perfectly organized and tidy. Its a unique concept of a puzzle game, in which you are unpacking boxes after changing room, and you must lay out your belongings throughout the house.
Mechanically its rather satisfying, you can rotate objects and the easyness of placing things helps.
Unfortunatly the game is very strict on the "right" places to lay your stuff, and that just annoys me to no end. It will highlight in red "wrongly" placed objects, and effectively onto let you advance into the next stage if you dont resolve that. The game would gain much more if it truely allowed the player to lay their objects where they see fit, more like a decoration game than a puzzle. This lack of self expression really takes away from the best thing about the game, which is its chilled back mood.
There are also some moments where you know you could cram more things into that shelf in real life, or otherwise leave objects on top of certain places that the game wont even consider that as an option. You cant shove things under the bed! How unrealistic is that?
Obviously the game is not made for me. I dont care too much about organizing things, and rather prefer to have them on view than hidden away in some shelf never to be found again. The game constantly tells me thats not the right way to live, and i already have enough loved ones berrating me about that in real life.

One of the few games that made me cry because I felt so in sync with the character's story personally.
There were some frustrating bits, but I believe that they were by design, specifically being unable to find space for some things in the middle chapters, but that was a conscious decision for story purposes.
All in all, a good way to spend a few hours. I believe it would have been easier to play if I was on PC instead of Switch.
One of these games where the whole idea is so brilliant, but the game itself ends up being so boring, that you start hating yourself for believing in it in the first place.
the first few were pretty cool but after a few of them there was just so much stuff my adhd brain was completely overwhelmed and I quit the game and never launched it again
cute! i like the concept but i think it's a little monotonous. i liked the realization that it was a wlw couple in (2015? i think?) that was really cute :)
You indirectly see the growth of the character and his good and bad experiences and also empathizing based on the objects you have to order. Beautiful.
replaying this over and over is so fun and relaxing. hasn't gotten boring yet. i recommend trying out dark star mode if you're bored, where you place everything in the wrong spot instead.
