I wish that were accurate. But it's not. F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin is still more of a horror game than this overall. People's primary source of criticism for it stems from the downgraded gunplay and story.

Just because you didn't find it scary or compelling doesn't mean it is invalid. Trepang2 doesn't hide the fact it's an action game with an action mood and heavy metal riffs. It prioritized this over being just a F.E.A.R. sequel.

Also 1 level doesn't make a whole game. Influences as they're called aren't meant to be taken at face value. In order for something to warrant the primary position it needs to first have at least some degree of consistency and prominence throughout the whole title.

2 levels in the game match action horror of sorts.
1 level contains psychological horror.

Neither reflected the game's identity enough due to them being limited near exclusively to those levels..
