I'm more familiar with the ps1 version, however I do have issues with the game that's present in the arcade version that prevent me from giving either of them a perfect score.
My main issue is that it's a rail shooter, yeah, I know that's unfair since the genre was everywhere in the 90s, but this is coming from an FPS player so these games will always have an uphill battle for me. This is an issue I have with the console version, but unless you're using a railgun peripheral, aiming can feel a bit loose which you can get used to with the controller, but will likely frustrate you long before you do get the hang of it. Negatives out of the way, this game is a ton of fun as you have two campaigns to play through. The first requiring you to rescue the president’s daughter from a crime mob at a castle while the second has you infiltrating a hotel to take out its owner. The cover system works really well here, you basically reload whenever you take cover and are completely safe from the enemies whilst in said cover. This is great because the Ai is particularly brutal in both campaigns, easily swarming you if you're not fast enough to take them out. For a game that was made for the arcades, it looks really good as the levels are very detailed in a way that most on rail shooters would overlook. The character models are very reminiscent of a jrpg which I'm sure is a huge plus for fans of the likes of final fantasy.
For a game that wasn't meant for me, I had a ton of fun with it. If you're looking to try out a rail shooter, then this is the game for you.
