The video game is gorgeous for a ps1 game, the story fantastic as you’d expect from a rpg during this time period, the gameplay drags tho and I really dislike how you have to farm to make progress near the end since the fights start to get too hard. Lost a lot of points from me for that
I actually enjoy grinding when I like a game enough, and this is my favorite JRPG of all-time, so it's no problem at all for me here.
You're not wrong, though, Blue_Jay. I did play through this again recently for the first time in years and I had forgotten how big of a difficulty spike there is as soon as you get into disc 3. The third disc might be my favorite story-wise, though, so I can forgive it easily on that regard.

Combat and graphics are fine but good lord is this game far below average in every other aspect compared to every other acclaimed RPG on the PSX people pretend this compares to.
I never made it to the end of disc 4 as a kid but my memories of this one are strong. I’m questioning whether I should even revisit it to finally complete it.
Played a bit of this as a kid but recently replayed it and was suprised at how much I enjoyed it. It can be a bit grindy but the story, characters, combat, exploration all kept me engaged. 4.5/5
