The Jackbox Party Pack 10

*After playing endless Jackbox games with my roomies throughout the pandemic, some games over discord, and introducing my family to the series as something to do over the holidays, I feel it's time I review each party pack. I plan on reviewing each party pack, so make sure to check my thoughts on the other games if you're looking for what party pack to try next. I don't rate these games the same as I would a video game because they play closer to board games*

As I've mentioned previously, Jackbox has been in a bit of a creative rut since party pack 6. Not that all of the games have been bad in that time, but that the creativity of the early packs has disappeared as more games have become similar to past games.

This pack is a pretty egregious example of that with one exception.

The most obvious is TKO2 which includes some nice quality of life upgrades and you'll enjoy, but is nothing new

Time Jinx is another trivia game with the gimmick being they're all time based questions. This is alright but again, just another trivia game that feels limited in what it can do

Hypnotorious is a terrible combination of mafia type game and monsters seeking monsters. This games premise is incredibly unfun as blending in doesn't feel particularly elusive and more just luck based (it all depends how obvious the prompts are). Further more, your first playthrough will be even worse as the rules of this game are poorly explained due to the pacing at which the rules are explained at.

My dad fell asleep while playing Fixytext and that's crazy because he usually loves typing games since he can put "cock" as his answer. Again, a game which serves little point and the sense of competition in this one is negated by the randomness of the messages you send.

The only reason to pick up this pack is dodo re mi which is a shockingly good rhythm game. Still, as fun as it is it just made me realize I wish I could just play rock band with the family.

This party pack is actively bad, there are two games I want to play, one is a quality of life update to a great game, and the other is a half decent rhythm game. I'd say your better off buying party pack 3 and finding an old rock band set off Kijiji. This might be the worst pack yet.
