The Banner Saga 3

Banner Saga 3 unfortunalty had to deal with the weight of being the last of a trilogy of games, in which the choices you make add up to the finally. This is a terrible burden on the developers as they try to make player choice matters but at the same time had limited budgets when constructing these endings. Think Mass Effect 3, or any Walking Dead after the couple first episodes,, all devolves into the same results.

Now, apart from the story and the lore that i couldnt get much out of, and admitedly its been 2 years since Banner Saga 2 so its easy to forget, there is a lot of good stuff about this game. Mostly the tactical combat and how you gradually specialize your team outside of combat. The little twists and abilities they added this time around do a good job at keeping a good system feel fresh. Unfotunatly this series continues to kill my favourite characters in plot, with no sort of warning that this might happen. While it forces the player to adapt to each situation, and feel the despair of the plot, and its also frustrating. Fortunatly the game is never too hard that this becomes an issue.

Overal its a very solid title for fans of tactical RPG, and the end to this exhaustive series. I feel like banner saga 1 and 2 feel superior, maybe because they felt fresher and their mistakes were easier to excuse.
