SpongeBob SquarePants: SuperSponge

I looove spongebob but this game is kinda balls. The enemies are unpredictable and the level designs make it easy for spongeboy ahoy! To die more ballsier without warning the player, the vacuum thingy is too slow and weapons like the squeaky boots and karate gloves disappear too quickly. The graphics are pretty bussin for it’s time and the og voice actors are mostly there (except mr krabble) to speak the dialogue. Level designs are balls but there is good creativity to them, I like how you just end up in the center of the earth for some reason lol. And then travellijg back to prehistoric times like a whaaaat???? Haven’t finished the game but I know it’ll get worse as it progresses.😁 update: uhhh I finished the game today and it kinda did get worse. I died a bunch of times and there was wasted potential having Manray being a mini enemy instead of a boss😢, it could’ve been a badass boss fight the ending was nice I guess and this was a nice little game to get upset at because of all the unpredictable spikes THAT BLEND IN WITH THE BACKGROUND🤬🤬🤬

Honestly this is about what you'd expect from an early Spongebob game before the PS2. Its a pretty standard platform, its bland, generic, forgettable and has awful mechanics. The jumping in this game is a bit too stiff and the game is just so unmemorable. I was a huge fan of Spongebob back in the early childhood and it I watched every episode in the first 3 seasons multiple times and hell I can even watch any episode in the first 3 seasons today and find it funny but this game is just a lame cash grab and even as a kid I didn't like it. You get some power ups and you go through different stages fighting spongebob themed enemies and collecting spatulas. Its a pretty short game and can be beaten in around 2 or 3 hours and the graphics are pretty bland. The voice acting is good except for Mr. Krabs because they got the original voice actors, which is kind of a surprise but I guess this being the first major Spongebob game the actors jumped on this. Funny enough Clancy Brown actually did video game voice work on Crash Bandicoot and recently on Detroit Become Human. I mean this isn't the worst platformer and its competent, but its just so generic and forgettable and the enemies in this aren't even interesting. This was easily just a quick cash grab to capitalize on the huge success of Spongebob in the early 2000s, and its a game I barely remember. Its a shame too because I think I got this as a Christmas present and even my love for Spongebob at the time couldn't save this game. Good thing Spongebob redeemed itself in the gaming World a few years later with Battle for Bikini Bottom. Its just a shame Spongebob had to go so far downhill in quality after the first 3 seasons and now the show is pretty much unwatchable but I guess that goes for almost any show that goes on for more than 10 years, even The Simpsons and South Park have fallen off the deep end in recent years.
