A further proof that spin-offs are better (and perhaps more popular) than the main franchise. Gale of Darkness had better battle animations than "Clown Freak"'s 1st edition of Sword/Shield from nearly 20 years later. The main franchise is either a rushed walmart triathlon or, sometimes, an outright swindle.
I always thought as a small child watching my brother play this game, that they fucking cut the MC’s arm off and replaced it with a robot arm rather than it just being a device
Colosseum was already a good game but this just improves on almost every aspect (besides not having as cool a player character). I think I do genuinely prefer replaying this over most of the mainline games these days.
This game was pretty fun but I found it lacking in difficulty, story, and overall length. When you catch Shadow Lugia at the end I felt none of the sense of triumph that you would've felt from catching the real thing in the GBA games.

Pokemon Emerald (released around the same time) sold 6x as many copies. Ruby/Sapphire sold 16x, and Diamond/Pearl 18x.
