Title
only ever really cool when it was released, purely because 3D wi-fi battles. Now that NDS/Wii wi-fi is dead and we've gotten 3 pairs of 3D entries that, while aren't great, are still at least a full game, pretty much the only purpose of this is for getting the unique sort-of-event Pokémon with their neat movesets, and extra items for your Gen IV games.

It's basically a way to have Pokemon battles with friends in 3D, and... that's about it. I'm not even going to say that this is disappointing because it's not a third game in the Orre region, since at that point I'd be complaining about this not being something that it was never advertised to be (although with this having the same development team that made Pokémon Colosseum [ポケモンコロシアム] and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness [ポケモンXD 闇の旋風ダーク・ルギア], it's hard to not have some kind of expectations). But it's literally just battles and that's it. There's nothing else here. Sure, it's basically a newer entry in the Pokémon Stadium [ポケモンスタジアム] series, but those games didn't particularly have that much substance either. It's only close to being good if you're desperate to battle your friends on an actual television, but the novelty wears off quickly.

(oh, and the fact that you can only import from a DS game once? Kind of bullshit if you're not that far into one of those entries)

    Lots of nostalgia for this game but in reality it's pretty dogshit. Cool to see the pokemon you transferred from the DS in 3d but after that there is absolutely nothing to do here.

    This game sucks ass, I grew up playing Stadium and it was way better so I don’t even have nostalgia for it. Even aside from how limited of a game it is the personality is so sterile and they were literally still using n64 models

    Yeah it's not good, but I bumped up my score to a 3 on nostalgia and what it did for the series. This game iirc is what kind of birthed VGC and tournament pokemon play and it was also the first place other than at the time Shoddy Battle where you could play competitive matches online against randoms. This is what got me into playing pokemon competitively and it was my first exposure to doubles outside of single player campaigns. Of course, the game was incredibly unbalanced and you had shit like Darkrai spamming Dark Void all the time, but I still have fond memories of spending afternoons after school playing online random battles.

    It's visually weird, pretty sometimes, sometimes good battle animations, but really ugly with reused models from the n64 era and some animations that just looked goofy as hell. Music does slap though, and the anime narrator doing the battle narration was really hype and it's something I wish would come back somehow.
