This game is fantastic; it's scary, intriguing, and as always, the lore is insane.
The story is pretty good, but you probably won't fully grasp it without consulting a wiki. For the past two years, I was hooked on "Aka Manto" as one of my favorite horror games, and now I discover it's actually just a copy of this one. Now, don't get me wrong, "Aka Manto" isn't bad; it actually does some things better, as it's scarier and more confusing. However, this game is much more manageable without needing a guide. I had a lot of fun playing it.
The gameplay is somewhat like "Granny" but harder and with simpler puzzle design. You basically roam around a boarding school, collecting items to unlock more areas and solve the mystery of what happened to your child while evading the nun. It's very basic, but it might click with you; I certainly had fun.
The atmosphere is, as always, great. I love the occasional thunder and rain sounds in the background; they add a lovely touch. As for the scares, you'll usually jump as soon as the nun sees you, but that's alright. The problem, in my opinion, is that the game loses its scariness once you understand how the nun works. For me, the magic was lost after my second try, and it felt more like, "Let's get this done" vibes.
Let's address some critical points I have. The game has four levels, and to be honest, I was kind of disappointed to see that all the levels are just reskins of the original. I played through the original, all endings, and the factory, but I didn't enjoy it as much. It felt like a reskin with more locked areas and different item spawns, along with a different spawn point for you, leading to a lot of backtracking because of the locked areas. Also, what I did not like was that you have three lives in this game, but if you accidentally trigger one of the three alternate or special endings, the game just ends. That's kind of a bummer if you have three lives left and accidentally trigger an ending.
Overall, it's a great game with a superb atmosphere, and it's genuinely scary. I love it.
