Ninja Gaiden III is essentially the same as the previous games, hardly much has changed, its just as difficult, just as full of cheap traps and offscreen enemies and instant kill pitfalls that make you restart the entire beginning of the level if you die. I do admit, it is slightly more polished and I felt the grappling lines made the platforming segments a bit less frustrating, but the final chapter of this game is aboslute bullshit, you hardly have any time and pretty much need to kill yourself at the start of the final chapter so you don't run out of time. The final boss guantlet in this game is just as bullshit and unlike the 2nd game dying to it makes you restart the entire final chapter. So its like they made small improvements in 3 like slightly tighter platforming and monkeybar climbing, but then made things more frustrating by taking away things like having the luxury to start from the final boss door if you die ot the boss. By this point the original Ninja Gaiden had run its course and each game was getting worse and worse and less original the story is just awful, the level design is generic and doesn't stand out, nor do the new enemies or bosses, in fact many bosses in this feel like rehashes from the previous 2 games. It's not a bad game and still is just as challenging and as the first 2 games, but it really was losing its impact as a series and it wouldn't be touched until over 10 years later with its reboot on Xbox and later on PS3.
