Good concept or being able to make custom gun layouts and stuff with each run, but NEEDLESSLY DIFFICULT. Found myself just like, dying for no reason? Could have been a lot more fun, but the difficulty really throws it off.

Mothergunship ultimatly ends up being another failed attempt at creating a great roguelite FPS. Through these past couple of years a lot of indie titles have tried to reach for that, and while i consider some of them good, none of them were great. Mothergunship i struggle to even call good, its more of a mediocre attempt.
Now the gameplay loop mostly revolves around dispatching huge rooms of robotic enemies, mostly turrets. The explosions are satisfying, and because most of their attacks are dodgeable it makes the player keep moving. There is a triple jump by default and you can add more through the level to basically have a jetpack. There is a big variety of weapons, with different qualities, and there is a big amount of dedication to the weapon crafting system, where you will effectively balance the firepower with the energy it takes to fire.
Up to here so good, but the game has a lot of issue in its level design. Most room are simple big squared rooms, and not that interesting to fight in. There are also big issues when it comes to the random loot, as enemies will only drop coins and some HP/energy/jump upgrades, and its with the money that you buy the upgrades on the store, which again never really show anything all that interesting.
The campaign is very short, only 10 missions long, each taking 5 to 10 minutes. Its a very short game. You dont keep the weapons you create from mission to mission, once again undermining the well done weapon crafting system. Because with levels so small you really dont feel invested enough to let your creativity flow in the crafting.
Overal a very disappointing title.
