This is what I'd call a platformer fan's platformer. A "pure" platformer so to speak.

In this game there are no distractions from the main purpose: platforming. You "just" jump around. But it is incredibly liberating, in a way... You can just enjoy an unadulterated experience of you, the platforms, and whatever you have to collect without having to fret about puzzles, story elements (although they are there, they're incredibly subdued) or whatever else in your quest of getting every single coin.

Of course this wouldn't work if the game physics weren't responsive and tight, or if the level designs were boring or badly put together, but luckily Matt Thorson knows what he's doing, and it really shows as the game's very fun to play and constantly pushing you further. It also helps that he introduces three types of birds that basically function as additional challenges in a level, flying away unless you manage to fulfill their requisites (reaching them before a timer, not killing any enemies and not double jumping).

The audiovisual aspects are also rather refined, with some cool pixel graphics and music to aid in your secondary challenge of not going insane with the difficulty at hand.

There's really not much more to say; as I said, this is distillated platforming, at its finest I might add. If you love platforming challenges you might have found another fun match for your skills.
