@TyLeRiNgO in my first playthrough I did a mix between dodge, guard and deflects out of simply wanting to beat the bosses lol. Now I'm on my second playthrough trying to perfect the deflect for the bosses, and well still having a blast lol I guess if you try to JUST deflect on your first playthrough it might be frustrating, but for subsequent playthroughs it's a fun challenge that's there if you want to. Or do a dodge only run like Joseph Anderson did. They really gave this combat system much tought.
I enjoyed this game but I’m honestly very concerned about this being held up as like the new gold standard of soulslike. The combat and mechanics are good, incredibly easy to pick up on if you have played any fromsoft games, but i can’t help but feel like this game is also derivative to a huge detriment to what the game does well. To the world/level design, the combat being an all edges removed smooth amalgamation of fromsoft games, and the story/art design being a dark fantasy/mild body horror Pinocchio instead of its own completely unique world, etc everything feels so calculated to appeal specifically to the people who want Dark souls 3 bosses, Bloodborne art, and sekiro parry option. The is a hallowed center to where the soul of the game should be!
I’m still considering replaying the game with a dex build because my first run I did a strength build and felt the game was a bit too easy! But the issues I mentioned above are kind of curbing my interest to do so
@Fuzzywuzzy_Burrr I understand your comment about the combat and level design being pulled straight out of from's ideas. I think however this has a very unique atmosphere and a forefront story that is honestly a fantastic reimagining of the original, and its story and atmosphere are what make this game special to me.
