Detective Carl Faubert is summoned to investigate vandalism in a small town, but the case quickly reveals a much more interesting, and seemingly super-natural, series of events happening in the remote wilderness of Northern Quebec.

Classic case of a game not knowing what it is -- first 85% is a detective game, with some resource management, etc. The last 15% turns into an annoying run-and-gun forcing the playing to wrestle with the poor control mechanism as you try to escape. The type of game that I get to the ending sequence, try a few times, get annoyed --watch the ending on YouTube and never, ever touch it again.
That being said, I like format of the detective segment; along with a third person narrator giving insight's into the protagonist's mind as he comes along various discoveries and events; at times even revealing the detective's own biases. Called to the town in investigate a minor crime of vandalism, it quickly becomes a investigation into the strange happenings that has ultimately left the town seemingly abandoned. I like the setting, and getting a reveal into the lives of the occupants of this remote town in Northern Quebec was interesting enough to hold my attention, and make me want to actually read the documents, journals, and notes found along the way, rather than clicking through the narrator's summaries.
The games real downfall centered around the controls for me, although over time the vehicles becomes easier to operate, the system for equiping gear or using consumables was fine for a slow paced game, but not something you want to tangle with in any kind of hurry, and in any type of combat were just dreadful. I also have mixed feelings about the storytelling technique where the player can reconstruct history into vivid animation apparently through the examination of clues alone.
