Linking When you mention an album, artist, film, game, label, etc - it's recommended to link to the item the first time you mention it. Doing so will make it easier to search for your post and give it more visibility. To link an item, use the search box above, or find the shortcut that appears on the page that you want to link. You can customize the link name of shortcuts by using the format [Artist12345,Custom Name].

I normally have no problems with most of Square Enix F2P mobile titles, as for example Heavenstrike Rivals is a pretty good one that is not lacking any depth. Unfortunately Kingdom Hearts Unchained X pretty much falls into the "crappy mobile cash grab" category, as it really lacks into the gameplay department.
The game consists of doing small stages and clearing the enemies in them. You equip your keyblade with medals in them, which consists of familiar characters from the Disney and Final Fantasy franchises, and those are acquired by spending jewels (premium currency, also available ingame at a decent rate). So when facing a battle you attack 3 times (one for each medal) and additional time from your online friend that you choose before entering the quest, and then the enemy if still alive hits you back The options are tap (strike vs a single enemy), swipe (less strong but attacks all enemies) or the special ability from your current medal which uses ability points. As you move along on the small stage you grab all the little chests and sparkling things, which consists of either material for upgrading your keyblade, muney or medals for upgrading/selling. After you finish clearing off the enemies, there is one "target" enemy that you need to kill to clear off the quest. And that's it. Repeat a million times as all quests are exactly the same.
The medals uses an "evolve" system that's rather common in mobile games from Asia, it's when you have maxed out the level of your medal you can evolve its rating from 2 star to 3 star with some additional costs and required material. It order to level up your medals, you need to fuse them with other medals and they gain the experience points. So essentially you just feed them your crappy ones. The game also works on the energy system which you need to spend some to do a quest. and it eventually refills with time (or with microtransactions for the impatient people).
These F2P things aren't really the problem with the game. It's simply the absolute boring and repetitive gameplay and the near lack of strategy in battles. There is no depth in this game and it quickly shows. Unfortunately my daughter is currently obsessed with Mickey Mouse so she really loves to watch me play this one, so I'm pretty much grinding out quests on a daily basis (I think I've cleared about 70 now). There just isn't much to do in this game, and there's nothing original about it either as it borrows from other mobile games for many of its aspects. Not recommended.

People criticize this series for its convoluted plot and corny disney writing, and while I understand those criticisms, I don't really care. Maybe its nostalgia The one thing I can never look past in this series though is locking essential plot points behind a shitty ass gacha game with shitty cookie cutter sprites. At least games like recom and recoded have redeemable gameplay and cutscenes that are nice to look at. Wtf were they thinking
