Incredipede

An Incredipede village is attacked by men, who abduct the residents to enslave them. An Incredipede named Quozzle escapes and she goes on a trek to the next village to seek help. Incredipede is a puzzle game, so the story isn't necessary and doesn't change the game in any way.

In each level, Quozzle's appearance is different which directly effects her manoeuvrability across the environment. So in each level, you need to learn how Quozzle moves and guide her through the environment, collecting one or more fruit within and reach the marked area to exit the level.

Quozzle is comprised of an eye and one or more limbs which can have one or more muscles attached to them. You can control her limbs to make her roll, climb, swing, walk, or fly depending on how her limbs are positioned. To collect fruit/reach the exit, it is Quozzle's eye that must make contact.

There are two difficulty modes. In the normal mode, you are given a stock configuration, whereas on hard, you often have some form of creative freedom. You may be asked to simply position a muscle, or may have to draw limbs and position muscles.

The earlier levels are designed just to show you how the mechanics work. Your pre-made monstrosity will slowly traverse the environment in a manner that is painful to watch and you feel sorry for your deformed creature.

The first set of 'puzzles' are solved by moving right. Although the movement is slow, it lets you observe your creatures movement and acts more of a tutorial of the mechanics. Difficulty is not too hard at first, and in-fact, the designs of the level are simple throughout. The difficulty lies in controlling your freak of nature. You might have a simple task of navigating a hill or a stair-like landscape, catch and carry objects, traverse lava or water, or even fly. Whatever your task is, it's always gonna be a struggle and involves understanding how your creature moves, and remembering which button turns which limb and in which direction. You can press the space-bar to reset the level quickly which is useful if you start to plummet off the level or end up with your limbs in a tangle and find it easier starting again.

The fact there is scope for multiple solutions to the problems means you can try different configurations to minimise your limb and muscle use and time taken to complete each level. There is a level creator for those creative types, and you can share content and compare solutions, so there is plenty of content to extend the core content of the game (around 60 levels), and high replay value within each level.

Incredipede has a simple concept and is well executed. The art style is well done and Quozzle's ever changing appearance is easy to like. Be warned though, Incredipede is incredibly and intentionally awkward so can only be recommended for people with patience, and it will appeal to those who excel in creativity.

Charming artwork, and I like the "real-world" achievements (like "go find a spider"), but ultimately this is just an expanded version of QWOP, and it's too imprecise to reward repeated plays.
