Title
A temporarily amusing novelty that's more fun to watch people play than actually play
The absurd deathtraps that make absolutely no sense (apples flying up from trees right when you are above them as an example) are amusing for a while, and becoming The Guy is a top-tier gaming bragging right that you will find yourself in pursuit of for a while after you pick this up. Personally, however, I'd advise you to steer clear. The game is simply poorly designed, aesthetically ugly, rage inducing, and ultimately not much fun. More Ghosts 'n' Goblins than Super Meat Boy, or perhaps more accurately, 1001 Spikes if it took more delight in endlessly trolling you rather than teaching you through inevitable failure. So play 1001 Spikes instead.

By virtue of inspiring so much abysmal crap, I feel compelled to give this score even if the game itself has some really amusing deathtraps. I despise the fact that checkpoint spam and gratuitous numbers of spikes have replaced effort and balancing in the indie gaming scene, and IWBTG is pretty much to blame for that. If you want a platformer where the skill ceiling is based on execution and speed rather than spamming retries on a pixel/frame-perfect jump, play Dustforce.

Actually, just play Dustforce anyways, it's what all these masochistic platformers wish they could be.
