I think of the NES light gun games trilogy(this and Wild Gunman and Duck Hunt), this one has the capacity to be the most enduring. The setting of a police training range is incredibly memorable, and distinguishing who to shoot and who to spare possesses an ardent challenge that it can be a viable means of competitive play. Only, if playing emulated on a Wii, it becomes very difficult to shoot the targets because I think the hitboxes are rather small.
A secondary mode is the interesting twist on shooting the cans, whereupon shooting them propels them in the air, with the objective being of putting them into crevices for points. This miniature discipline would be remade for Wii Play.
