Arcade Archives Haunted Castle

I legit spent 45 minutes trying to get past stage 4 lmao. This is borderline unplayable

Gameplay wise this is dodgy as hell, with some pretty obvious design oversights that seem to go a touch beyond your standard token-taker arcade philosophy. That said, the music is great, the visuals are a little strange but really inventive and interesting, and it's downright shocking how many elements later games pulled from this. The stained glass knight from Chronicles, the falling tower level from Bloodlines, even the collapsing-bridge-with-bats sequence from Super IV; all cribbed from this. Definitely worth a full playthrough, but don't bother trying to beat it legitimately. Save states are your friend. Just enjoy the pretty sounds and colors.
